Final Project: filming continued

Since our film takes place when the Sun is setting, we only have a few minutes of time to film. Today, we were able to get the first couple of scenes that require a second actor since one was available. We filmed the opening scene where the second gangster gets shot. This took up about thirty more seconds of the film. For the part where the second gangster gets shot, we made a home- made squib to make it look like he is actually bleeding. We used this by filling a zip- lock bag full of our fake blood and then attaching a string to it. once this was done, we duct taped the squib to our actors chest. Once he got shot, all he had to do was pull the string. Also, to attempt to make the gunshots look more realistic, we plan to edit flashes onto the film.

Final project: first filming

Today we began our first filming for our final project. Due to the fact that the majority of our actors were unavailable, filming was limited to only a few scenes. The scenes We did use however, involved the use of fake blood. Since we have now made fake blood, we are now experienced with getting the consistent correct and making it look as realistic as possible.

Planning: Sound script

The sound script for our movie is pretty basic. It mostly amplifies sound effects that would otherwise no TV be captured by the camera we are using. We will be using higher quality mics to record the sound after filming for the parts we want to amplify. Their are certain things we have to record after filming such as the news reporter scene. It wouldn't sound right with allot of diagetic sounds in the background so, we will record somewhere with little notice to disrupt the audio. Propper sound in a film is very important, without it an audience can lose immersion and feel unconnected with the film. Proper sound in a film can either make or break a viewer's experience.

Planning: Shooting Script

For our shooting script planning, we stuck mainly with our original idea. This made planning much easier. This will also make filming much easier because we, for the most part know exactly what we are filming. Our script follows the struggles of a teenager who has to resort to a life of crime to support his family. When a gang member threatens and attacks him for loosing a shipment of cocaine to the DEA he has to kill him in an act of self defense. We are now following our protagonist's perspective of being hunted by the cops.
